Perfect for Groupies!
We had a great group of folks here this past weekend. Heather and her gang were here to celebrate her 30th birthday. The theme for the weekend was “It’s all about Heather” and they seemed to have a great time. It is always fun (and interesting) to see groups of friends come together here at The Motor Lodge. In Heather’s case, it amazed me how many people took time from their lives to come and celebrate her birthday; they were spread out at four hotels in town! I guess I shouldn’t be so amazed though, she truly is delightful. We were quite busy scurrying around before their arrival because we wanted to get the carports painted and set-up a fire pit for them. If I do say myself, it all turned out quite cozy for fireside cocktails and music!
Since we opened 16 months ago we have hosted several groups including weddings, reunions, birthdays and anniversaries. Our lay out works fantastic for larger groups and now with a fire pit, well, fabulous! Typical of many of the old motor courts, The Motor Lodge is laid out with all 12 rooms face towards the center parking lot. Having been originally built as individual summer cabins we are a bit different in that our rooms do not share common walls with each other and subsequently provide a bit more privacy. Most of our rooms also have private porches and many have covered parking spaces.
We have plans to enclose two carports to make a common area complete with a kitchen, pool table and big screen television. We think that would be great for the bigger groups that stay with us. We also think it will be a nice place for other guests to chat and just hang-out together. Having met so many diverse individuals in the short time that we have been open, we have come to appreciate that we are all pretty much the same. People want to be content in their families, have good times with friends, maybe have a bit of money after all the bills have been paid and just be happy. We like to think that we provide a little corner in the world where being happy is just a tad easier to come by.
