to everyone that came to “Howdy, Prescott” on July 4th here at The Motor Lodge! It was an Open House that we held here to introduce ourselves to the community and give them a look at the changes we’ve made so far. About one hundred and twenty-five people made time during the busy Independance Day holiday to come by for some refreshments and beverages and get a glimpse at where we’ve been and learn where we are headed. It is just further confirmation as to how friendly and supportive our Prescott neighbors are. Keep on the look out for continued improvements!

Truly, we are bringing sexy back…

Doesn’t the saying go, “If a picture paints a thousand words”…? Okay that being said, where did Madame Sunset, of Los Angeles fame, stay when visiting our fair hamlet while performing for the CD release party of “Sweet Nasty”??? Yeah, you know it…The Motor Lodge…enough said!!!

We had a great weekend with the Bluegrass Festival in town this past weekend. We had the banjo genius, Dick Brown, from “Sawmill Road” staying with us. If you haven’t had occasion to listen Bluegrass you should…it is a toe-tapping good time. On Saturday morning Dick was warming up on his porch when Michael (another guest and excellent guitar player) joined him and treated us to an impromptu mini concert. Keep an ear out for bluegrass and thank me later! (just make sure not to ask for “Dueling Banjos”!!!)

Lea will always be #1 to us!

It happened today…our first guest! We have been working like mad men to get things ready for our first guests that were to arrive in four days. We had the carpenters (hammer and nails not Karen and Richard), plumbers, heating & cooling guys, painters and Moe the carpet cleaner moving in perefect rhythm and right on schedule when up drives Lea, fresh from the Grand Canyon and looking for the coziest bed in town. Not ones to shy away from a challenge, we told her to come back in four hours and we would have a little piece of Prescott heaven ready for her. Now, have you ever seen one of those home improvement shows where they have two minutes until “the reveal” and everything is total chaos and then miraculously after the commercial **POOF** it is gorgeous?? Well, not to toot our own motor lodge truck horn but that’s exactly what happened on this fine and fabulous Monday evening. After a glass of wine and a hot shower, the last I saw Lea she was rolling down the hill towards The Raven (a really hip restaurant and bar) on one of our bikes with the wind blowing through her hair. We hope she has sweet dreams…our #1 in #1.

…that buying and renovating a small motel could be so much work and so much fun at the same time?!! The surprises that present themselves each time we begin a new “little project” have certainly kept us on our toes these past several weeks. We were surprised upon finding some old letters and photographs that the property actually began as summer cottages sometime around 1910. Taking her age into consideration, this ole’ girl is in pretty good shape. We are working on giving her a complete new look, afterall, everyone needs a little makeover now and then! We hope you will come and see us!
